The Amount of Basic Living Expense Per Person for 2022 Hiked to NT$196,000


The Ministry of Finance announced that the amount of basic living expense per person for 2022 has been raised to NT$196,000. Around 2.3 million households are expected to benefit from an estimated increase of NT$1.5 billion of their disposable income when they file the individual income tax return in May of 2023.  It's the fifth consecutive year that the amount of basic living expense has been raised.
Tainan Branch, National Taxation Bureau of the Southern Area, Ministry of Finance explained that, in the case of a family with two children, the NT$16,000 increase of the basic living expense will save them NT$800 in income tax calculated at a minimum tax rate of 5%.
