National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance (hereinafter referred to as the NTBT) expressed that, the filing period for 2018 individual income tax return of foreign taxpayers is from May 1st through May 31st 2019. The NTBT also suggested foreign taxpayers prepare tax-filing related documents in advance to fulfill tax-filing and paying tax.
The NTBT explained that during filing period foreign taxpayers can log onto the e-filing service website (maintained by Ministry of Finance): https://tax.nat.gov.tw or the official website of the NTBT: https://www.ntbt.gov.tw to download the e-filing program. There are four ways to login the program as follows: (1) via aliens citizen digital certificate (whose application is available for foreigners in person by presenting ARC at service centers of National Immigration Agency, Ministry of Interior) (2) via Health Insurance Card (which should be registered first in Internet across the official website of NHIA, Ministry of Health and Welfare）(3) via Financial CA (which is authenticated by Ministry of Finance) (4) via ARC number (which is valid on January 1st 2019） and Passport number or Residence number or Permit number.
The NTBT pointed that after completion of online filing a list of supplementary documents for individual income tax return, including foreign documents, shall be submitted to tax office in jurisdiction in person or by mail as follows: documents regarding dependent deduction, remuneration paid by offshore employer, itemized deductions and so on. As for foreign taxpayers residing in Taipei city, please forward the aforementioned documents to Foreign Taxpayers Section (Address: No.2, Sec.1, Zhonghua Rd.,Wanhua District, Taipei City, 10802, R.O.C.). The NTBT reminded that please prepare tax-filing related documents in advance to ensure to finish tax filing in time.
The NTBT emphasized that online filing is 24 hours available from May 1st through May 31st 2019. Plus, online filing and paying tax by credit card or ATM card is convenient and time-saving.
