Business Tax is Exempt, but Issuing Invoices is Required on Offshore Islands. Please Remember to Ask for Invoices When Shopping.

The National Taxation Bureau of the Southern Area, Ministry of Finance, stated that tax exempt uniform invoices issued by stores can still be redeemed the prizes. In the past, a special prize of NT$10 million dollars was drawn in the Penghu area. Please don’t forget to ask for uniform invoices when traveling on offshore islands!

The Bureau explained that, according to Article 10 of the “Offshore Islands Development Act,” goods sold and delivered locally or services provided locally by business entities in the Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Ludao (Green Island), Lanyu, and Liuqiu areas shall be exempted from business tax. However, the business entities in offshore island areas which have been approved to issue uniform invoices shall still issue uniform invoices. In addition, since tax exempt uniform invoices are still subject to the “Uniform Invoice Award Regulations,” those who hold tax exempt uniform invoices are eligible to claim prizes.

In order to maximize the chance of winning the prize, The Bureau would like to remind the public to ask for uniform invoices when shopping in offshore island areas.
