The National Taxation Bureau of the Northern Area, Ministry of Finance (NTBNA) indicated that in order to encourage people to store cloud invoices through carriers, the Uniform Invoice Award Regulations have been amended by the Ministry of Finance on April 12, 2021, increasing the number of cash awards of the five-hundred-dollar prize exclusive to cloud invoices from 600,000 to 1,000,000 sets, starting from the period of March and April. In addition, there are 30 sets of $1,000,000 cash awards prize and 16,000 sets of $2,000 cash awards prize. The amount of cloud invoice exclusive awards will reach NTD 562 million, hence the chances of winning will be greatly increased.
The NTBNA explains that the MOF’s measures to promote diversified services of uniform invoice redemption aims to implement a completely paperless process, from the issuance of cloud invoices to claiming the prizes. By downloading the Uniform Invoice Lottery Redemption APP (hereinafter referred to as “redemption APP”), consumers can store cloud invoices when making purchases by displaying the barcode. Next, apply for/link to a commonality carrier-mobile barcode, and set up the carrier consolidation to commonality carrier-mobile barcode such as EasyCard, iPASS card, icash, credit card, the consumer’s e-mail address for Cross-border E-commerce Suppliers, and membership card, etc. And finally, set up a bank account to claim your prizes. Prizewinners holding the cloud invoices that are stored in the commonality carrier-mobile barcode can claim the prizes via the redemption APP, which will be remitted to your bank account. Winning uniform invoices are exempt from stamp tax; furthermore, the process saves you time from retaining the invoice receipts and checking against the winning numbers. It also prevents winners from losing out on their prizes by failing to claim the prize before the prescribed deadline.
Lastly, the NTBNA stated that prizewinners holding the cloud invoices that are stored in the commonality carrier-mobile barcode can redeem the general awards of uniform-invoice prize and also enjoy the qualification of cloud invoice exclusive awards, which is equal to one more chance to win the prize. Business entities issuing cloud invoices to consumers can enhance the efficiency of management and cut down operation cost. Furthermore, they also provide great assistance to the government in promoting the policy of energy saving and carbon reduction.
