In response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the filing deadline for the 2020 income tax return is extended to June 30, 2021

In response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Finance made a public announcement that the filing period for the 2020 income tax return was originally from May 1 to May 31, 2021, and the deadline has been extended to June 30, 2021.

As of June 24, 2021, 5.72 million individual income tax returns have been filed, with a ratio of 89.66% of total estimated individual income tax returns; and 922 thousand profit-seeking enterprise annual income tax returns have been filed, with a ratio of 95.83% of total estimated profit-seeking enterprise income tax returns.

The Ministry of Finance urges taxpayers to file income tax returns before June 30, 2021. The Ministry of Finance further states that taxpayers can file their tax returns via “The e-Filing and Tax Payment Service of the Ministry of Finance (https://tax.nat.gov.tw/index.html)” online at home to avoid the risk of infection and crowds.

Taxpayers who are unable to complete the tax payment within the filing period due to the COVID-19 pandemic may apply for a deferral or installment payments with the tax collection authority. For further information about how to apply, please visit “Measures to COVID-19 (https://www.mof.gov.tw/Eng/htmlList/6637)”.
