Temporary reduction of tariffs on 22 products including meat of bovine animals, milk powder for baking, butter, anhydrous milk fat, and wheat to be implemented for a three-month period from January 1


Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance stated that, in response to the situation of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and in order to ensure that domestic supplies are sufficient and prices are stable, according to Article 71 of the Customs Act, the Executive Yuan approved a continuous temporary 50% reduction of tariffs on meat of bovine animals from NT$10 per kilogram to NT$5 per kilogram, on milk powder for baking from 10% to 5%, on butter from 5% to 2.5%, and on anhydrous milk fat from 8% to 4%, as well as a 100% decrease on wheat from 6.5% to 0%, for a three-month period from January 1 to March 31, 2024.

The Administration highlights that during the implementation of the temporary reduction of tariffs, the application of the revised tariff rate shall be governed by Article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Customs Act. For imported goods, the amendment of the tariffs shall apply from the arrival date of the means of transportation. According to Article 6 of the same regulation, “the arrival date of the transportation means” refers to the date on which the vessel arrives at the port of entry and files the import manifest with Customs for sea cargo, and for air cargo refers to the date on which the plane arrives at the airport and files the import manifest with Customs.

Customs Administration has provided a “List of 22 products including meat of bovine animals, milk powder for baking, butter, anhydrous milk fat, and wheat on which tariffs are temporarily reduced” for the public’s reference.
