The Refunds for 2022 Aliens’ Individual Income Tax Will Be Transferred into Appointed Accounts on August 1 and September 11, 2023

The National Taxation Bureau of the Southern Area (hereinafter “The Bureau”), Ministry of Finance expressed that the dates of direct deposit refunds for the 2022 aliens’ individual income tax will be on Aug. 1 and Sept. 11, 2023. Taxpayers who chose to receive tax refunds via direct deposit to an NTD deposit account can check their appointed bank (post office) accounts after above scheduled dates. Those who did not appoint a specified account to receive tax refunds can receive their refund checks in the order of tax-filing dates.
The Bureau further explained that, if an alien who stays in the R.O.C. for 183 days or more within a taxable year is regarded as a tax resident in the R.O.C., he or she shall file a 2022 individual income tax declaration from May 1 to May 31, 2023. If the tax withholding amount exceeds the tax payable, the overpaid tax amount will be refunded according to general procedures.
The Bureau encourages taxpayers to receive tax refunds via direct deposit, which is more convenient and faster. Taxpayers can also appoint the accounts belonging to the taxpayer, spouse, or dependents filing jointly.
